I can safely say ‘Jersey’ is my best film yet : Shahid Kapoor

After two years ‘Jersey’ is finally releasing in theaters, recently the trailer launch of the film Shahid said,” I am happy that the films are back in theatres, and congratulations to ‘Sooryavanshi’ for having the guts to being the first film in line to do that. It was not easy for any of us since the shop was shut for two years. And not knowing that what’s going to happen is a very scary feeling. But ‘Jersey’ is the story of the triumph of the human spirit and therefore has a great context, it is relevant to today’s time.”

When Covid happend, our film shoot was 50% through and Aman Gill decided to stop shooting because it was not safe. And we didn't want risk anyone. There was kids, my father who was on set and many more. There was no vaccine at that time. It took us longer to complete the film so it has been a long journey." Shahid revealed that, he saw the original Telugu film featuring Nani with his wife Mira and his manager and he got very emotional after that. He feels that he has connected with film, that's the reason he wanted to do remake of this film. He also revealed that,"After Kabir Singh since the wide audience, that has seen the film. I am not chasing the same kind of character again nor the same stroy again. That doesn't excite me. The old wine, new bottle bit, I don't understand that. I am not here to make bottle, I am only interested in wine. 'Jersey' is a strong story with original and fresh character". Shahid said, "You could also say, I tried my best not to do this film(He was offered 'Jersey before he wroked on 'Kabir Singh'). Credit to Gowtam (Gowtam Tinnanuri, the director of 'Jersey') for working with me and waiting for me. I can say that 'Jersey' is my beat film yet. The film also starring Mrunal Thakur has Shahid wife, and Shahid's father Pankaj Kapoor as coach.
